Our Story

Why We Founded The PM Office

We spent 20+ years in enterprise environments covering financial services, telecommunications, automotive, digital transformation, and regulated industries. We worked with brilliant project managers delivering multi-million-pound programmes, and saw sophisticated governance frameworks and talented practitioners bringing structure to complex change.

But we also saw inefficiency and waste. Junior consultants learning their craft on client budgets. Process implemented for process's sake, creating bureaucracy that slowed delivery. Enterprise methodologies designed for £50M programmes applied unthinkingly to £200k initiatives.

When we started working with SMEs, we saw the opposite problem. Talented people trying to deliver critical projects without professional project management support. Strategic initiatives failing not from lack of capability but from lack of structure. Organisations that needed PMO infrastructure but couldn't justify £80,000+ permanent hires for inconsistent demand.

We founded The PM Office to bridge this gap. We bring enterprise-quality project management to organisations operating at SME scale — flexibly, affordably, and pragmatically.
