We bring enterprise quality project delivery to organisations operating at SME scale, combining proven expertise with genuine flexibility and a partnership approach.
We spent 20+ years in enterprise environments covering financial services, telecommunications, automotive, digital transformation, and regulated industries. We worked with brilliant project managers delivering multi-million-pound programmes, and saw sophisticated governance frameworks and talented practitioners bringing structure to complex change.
But we also saw inefficiency and waste. Junior consultants learning their craft on client budgets. Process implemented for process's sake, creating bureaucracy that slowed delivery. Enterprise methodologies designed for £50M programmes applied unthinkingly to £200k initiatives.
When we started working with SMEs, we saw the opposite problem. Talented people trying to deliver critical projects without professional project management support. Strategic initiatives failing not from lack of capability but from lack of structure. Organisations that needed PMO infrastructure but couldn't justify £80,000+ permanent hires for inconsistent demand.
We founded The PM Office to bridge this gap. We bring enterprise-quality project management to organisations operating at SME scale — flexibly, affordably, and pragmatically.
We bring enterprise-quality project management to organisations operating at SME scale. We provide the expertise, methodology, and governance that drives successful delivery — flexibly, affordably, and pragmatically, respecting the realities that SMEs face around budget constraints, resource limitations, and the need for genuine partnership rather than transactional consulting.
We're not here to impose corporate bureaucracy or sell expensive reports that gather dust. We're here to deliver successful projects and build lasting capability in the organisations we serve. We believe SMEs deserve access to the same calibre of project leadership as enterprise organisations, delivered in ways that acknowledge and respect their operational and financial realities.
We measure success by outcomes achieved and benefits realised — not by process compliance or documentation quality. If something doesn't contribute to delivery, we don't do it.
We're honest partners, not just service providers. That means telling clients things they might not want to hear, staying invested in outcomes rather than inputs, and treating every engagement as a relationship worth building.
We're not dogmatic about methodology. We apply whatever approach serves the situation — PRINCE2, Agile, hybrid, or something bespoke. The right methodology is the one that serves your specific project context.
We're conscious that SMEs have real budget constraints. We don't charge enterprise rates for services SMEs don't need, and we're transparent about commercial terms and what's included.
Our goal is sustainable improvement, not permanent dependency. We build capability in client teams, transfer knowledge, and try to leave every organisation better placed to manage its next project.
We'll tell you if we're not the right fit. We'll tell you if your project is in trouble. Honest counsel is more valuable than comfortable agreement.
